When the keyboard is out and the screen in landscape mode, does the 5-way remap? Or is toward the antenna still up?

yes, it remaps! (re-orients itself as you described)

Definitely so. The start menus works with it re-oriented so do all the apps. And even 3rd partys apps like "duke nukem" for instance :D

EDIT:

I was wrong. The re-mapping is done via software your running. Duke nukem it is still oriented as antenna is up.

HOWEVER... Excel, Outlook, Word... yadda yadda all re-map. So it's up to the software to know it's orientation.

Hi Siggy,

Thanks for answering questions. Can you please post all of the Bluetooth profiles available on the 6700?

Also, do you know what the availability is on the extended battery? Supposedly it does not come standard with the handset--will it be available as a Sprint-branded accessory?

Finally, did you need WModem to accomplish USB DUN on the 6700? What was the process you used to connect?

Thanks!

Dan

Dan,

NP.

The extended battery will not be included with the unit. It should be available from the usual places. Sprint webiste for example.

I'm not sure how to obtain the profile information your reuqesting. I am not a big bluetooth guy. (in reality I think bluetooth is for tech guys who want to show off, I like a wired headet) I have 2 bluetooth headsets, I don't use either. Since this unit does have bluetooth 1.2 and it does support stereo headsets I might go about obtaining one.

The unit comes with an application entitled "Wireless Modem" you simply run it and it enables the USB modem device on the PPC-6700. Windows will need the device driver from the included CD to add the modem in.

In the settings for the "wireless modem" app the following connection types exist: USB, Bluetooth, IrDA.

For example you launch the app, choose your connection type and hit the "start" button in the application.

Sorry,

For various reason I would rather not include myself in any of the pictures.

I *promise* the unit is NOT huge. It just appears large because of the form factor. It is *slightly* thicker than a 650. It is in no way any more cumbersome than the 650 is.

I will take pics of it next to a treo 650 ASAP this evening. I gave my 650 to my GF so I have to wait for her to get home from work. I will take detailed photos so show size difference.

I will also post pictures from the camera I have taken. Which include panoramic, macro and highest resoltuion from the CCD. I can also post some from the 650 for comparison of the same item in the same lighting conditions.

Well thanks for all you're doing anyways - we the 6700less appreciate it. How bout a few more shots to tide us over these cold long hours until tonight? You know like shots of it at the beach, maybe one in front of the eiffel tower, and the always classic lamborghini, hot girl and 6700 shot? If you dont have time for all that before tonight then maybe just next to a budweser or something lol. Thanks

Thanks Siggy.

I think you can find out by going into Bluetooth settings and going through the process of adding a device.

I'm curious about your statement that it supports stereo output. Did you just mean via the headphone jack (same as the 6600 and other Pocket PCs) or do you mean via Bluetooth?

Well that's a first for an HTC phone. Do you know anyone who's successfully made a stereo bluetooth connection with the 6700?

Accomplishing that requires a bluetooth profile called A2DP, which I wasn't aware Microsoft had yet developed for their stack. If true, that's very exciting!

SiGGy, just out of curiosity, why don't you have the latest firmware?

I do, you mis-read my post. I said I tested DUN with firmware older than what I currently have on. As such the application may behave differently on the new firmware.

The flash I have is the latest production flash.

Well, my GF was home for lunch. So here's the comparison pics as requested. I won't be able to take any more until this evening.

Thanks for the clarification and thanks for the added photos. I look forward to seeing comparison photos of the two devices' cameras later.

At the risk of getting off-topic...in case you happened to have some inside contacts at Sprint that could tell you this...I'd be very interested in knowing if there was any chance that Sprint might be working with Samsung to release the SPH-M7000 in the US. Here's a link with several photos of that device:

It's also obviously a WM2003SE device. It's got 192MB of RAM and 64MB of FlashROM (according to the spec sheet in the photos).

I really doubt many new 2003SE devices will come to market, as the industry is moving full steam ahead to WM5.

luv2chill, yes I noticed that it was WM2003SE and the non-WM2005-friendly ROM/RAM separation. Still, if they fixed that and stuck WM2005 on there, they shouldn't need to change much else, so hopefully it will make its way over here. Anyways, sorry for getting us off-topic.
