Please read throught these steps before building so that you understand whats going on.

Step 1
To start with I cut my cable at a manageable lenth, but longer than I need it. I will trim it later. As you can see from the picture I cut it to 3 inches overall, with a good 2 inches of unobstructed cable (cable outside of the bend protector.) From here on out we will measure this second lenth, as the overall lenth could change from connector to connector. So we start with 2 inches of useable cable, just longer than our 1/4h measurement of 1.56 inches.
Step 2
With your penknife carefully cut the insulation flush with the bend protector. Do not cut the shield wires. We will need them later. Look at the following steps if you do not understand what these are.
Step 3
Carefully peel off the outside insulation as shown. Start with the area close to the bend protector and work your way to the cut end. A slight longitudinal cut along the insulation may help every now and then. This will be difficult and time consuming, but it will come off with some work. Be patient.
Step 4
With the insulation removed carefully unravel the shield wires all the way to the bend protector.
Step 5
Arrange all the shield wires so that they all go to one side of the center conductor. Then twist the wires in a tight but straight and consistant twist starting from the bend protector to the cut end.
Step 6
Now we trim to 1.56 inches. Trim the "wire" we made out of the shield wires. Also trim the center conductor to this lenth. Arrange the wires to bend so that they are 180 degrees from each other.
Step 7
We will need to protect the antenna and reinforce it with something noncunductive. I will post more steps and pics when I get this done.
