Phone application on 700p and 680

Post by vixensjlin » Thu Nov 16, 2006 7:41 pm

Does anybody compare the phone application on Treo 680 and 700p? Which one does the better job to integrate Contact and Calendar?

Any idea to put them into 650 for actual use?

Any input are welcome.

The phone application in the 680 is tabbed, with dialer, favorites, a todayish like screen, contacts and call log. It works pretty well and is not a bad change from the old 650 way of implementing things. If it were possible to run a 680 phone app on a 650, it would only be the GSM 650s that could work. My friends and I are looking into this, curious to see what apps from a 680 (if any) would run on the 650.

The applications should work, if also you transport the libraries; the serious difficulty would be dependencies with specific versions of the PACE environment that may surface in native ARM libraries...

Depending how well the DAL decouples the basic hardware from the rest, one may "remix" DAL and drivers from one version with libs and apps from another. Still, tests in this direction DO require a lot of time and a fair amount of hardware tools.

Using Treo 650 Phone application on Treo 680

Post by Boris1 » Tue May 29, 2007 2:07 pm

The "upgraded" phone app on the 680 has a horrible interface; it takes 5 times as many keystrokes to get anything done.

Has anyone found a way to use the treo 650 phone app on a 680?
