I see that this post has NOT yet been replied to. Perhaps the people are busy?

At any rate, I have extensively read the TC post and have not found any reference to a T|E driver. Yet, in UneasySilence, shadowmite post says there is one.

-----------
I downloaded the driver and followed the instructions. But after installation, I get the error: INCOMPATIBLE DEVICE - This device is incompatible with this software

Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

I beg to differ since its hard to work on something you dont have. If am not mistaken, Shadowmite only has T650 CDMA. And he does have a real world job not just this.

Why dont we help out, anyway we can.

The Wifi drivers came from a Tungsten T-5, im not sure where you got that information or who screwed it up in the first place. The Tungsten T-5 and the Treo 650 have simial achetectures, allowing a primitive dirver to be released. I dont reccomend using or installing drivers that you are unsure of or are unfamiliar with. We hade never modified any drivers from a Tungsten E.

I know coz I read the TC thread.

as posted above, we knew about it Shadowmite's (?) post in UneasySilence date 12/19/2004. Read more .http://www.uneasysilence.com/index.php?p=1719 That is why I was estatic coz officially only T3, Z72 and T5 works with the WiFi card. With the hack, the T650 became a possiblity. So who wouldn't think that a TE wouldn't be possible too?

Well, it may just be a Shadowmite-wannabe who made that post, that is why I PMed Shadowmite to verify. But he seems verify busy, I haven't received any reply yet.

Dont worry I wont be blaming you if my unit gets busted. Its still OK AFAIK.

Heres why. The Tungsten T5 and the treo share some important bits of hardware, namely the intel PXA270 processor. This allows us to adapt drivers from the T5 to the treo 650 with some tweaking.

The Tungsten T3 uses a PXA255.

The Tungsten E, or TE for short, uses a Texas Instruments OMAP 311 ARM processor similar to the Texas Instruments OMAP 310 ARM processor used in the treo 600. If I were to expect any cross device abilities, it would be for devices who A: share similar processors who address similar hardware in a similar fashion and B: use the same flavor of precompiled assembly code.

Because the drivers for the 650 dont work on the 600, they dont work on the TE, for exactly the same reasons. Look for folks doing some 600 hacks, as they hold the most promise for your TE.

My guess is that each device comes with drivers specific to each processor to address the wifi card properly, as opposed to a one size fits all wifi driver. We have used the T5 drivers as the T5 might mave some cross compatibility with the target device, the treo 650.

I totally agree since T5 and T650 both came out with the NVFS system, presumably developed at the same time.

Do think the LifeDrive (LD) files would help us out with WiFi project? I have access to LD.

with regards to programming, would have to catch up with my reading though (below average programmer) :D
